Objectives of the Palestinian Labour Rights Observatory
What are we working to achieve?
The Observatory turns complaints, documented cases and data into knowledge and evidence that protect workers’ rights, strengthen union action and advocacy, and inform policies and legislation.
Data and knowledge
Build a reliable, secure labour database and turn documented cases and data into reports, indicators, studies and policy briefs to understand Palestinian working conditions and identify priorities.
Monitoring and documentation
Systematically and professionally monitor and document labour violations, classifying them by type, sector, location, worker group and severity.
Protecting workers’ rights
Strengthen protection through a safe institutional mechanism to receive and follow complaints, consultations and labour reports, and improve access to justice and remedies through appropriate referrals.
Awareness and capacity building
Improve workers’ awareness of their rights, protection and access to justice, and strengthen branches, unions and labour staff in monitoring, documentation, verification, complaints handling, referral and data protection.
Advocacy and influence
Strengthen advocacy, social dialogue and influence on policies and legislation through evidence, analysis and recommendations that improve labour rights and decent work policies and practices.
Supporting trade union action
Support union action and collective bargaining with information, data and analysis that help the Federation, its branches and unions define priorities, positions and negotiation dossiers.
Our priority
Raising Palestinian workers’ issues internationally
Raise international visibility through reliable information, reports and briefs in Arabic and English, and engagement with the international trade union movement, the ILO, United Nations institutions and mechanisms, and international human rights bodies.
